The second highest top in the Ochil Hills (after Ben Cleuch) is named Andrew Gannel Hill. Nobody seems to have any idea who Andrew Gannel was. One day in early 2016 I was ascending the hill, and got the idea of writing a song. Bits churned around in my head as I continued, and at the summit I sat down and wrote about half of the lyrics down on the back of a Morrisons receipt. Further lines occurred as I traversed some of the other hills, and shortly after getting home I was able to put it all together.
And as yet, we still have no idea of who he was… |
